March 16th marked ten years of happy marriage so to celebrate we spent two weeks in Italy. Of all the places I went to in the Navy, Italy was by far my favorite so it seemed to be the most ideal place to go.
We flew into Milan and spent a week there taking the trains to various cities during the day and coming back for the night.
Milan:
Pisa:
Venice:
Florence:
And then we headed to Rome to spend a week. Where we stayed in Milan was just a regular Hilton – very nice, but just a hotel; but the Hilton in Rome was *awesome*. One of the coolest things about the room itself was the remote controlled metal screen that came down over the windows to block out the light from outside – even in the middle of the day, if you dropped that thing it made it pitch black inside (great for flight crews I would imagine).
The Vatican is in Rome but technically speaking it is another country so I kept the pictures of it separate from Rome:
After two magnificent weeks we flew home *sigh* – but we were working on making a baby so it wasn’t so bad
